### Book: A Court of Splintered Harmony (A Court of Thorns and Roses Book 6)
By Sarah J. Maas

Romance, danger, and intrigue await you in the breathtaking sixth book in the #1 bestselling Court of Thorns and Roses (ACOTAR) series. What was broken will be remade. Deep in the heart of the continent, Koschei the Deathless is stirring. Though he's been bound to a mountain lake for millennia, the insidious threat of his return now spreads across the Fae territories, attracting powerful allies hell-bent on reclaiming what was once theirs: the human lands. The Night Court will not stand idly by while innocents are attacked. But with Prythian still piecing itself together in the wake of the devastating Hybern War, the task of uniting is proving more difficult by the day. To make matters worse, those who rule and protect the Night Court are reeling from recent betrayals and revealed truths. The rifts dividing them seem insurmountable. But to defeat Koschei's creeping shadow, they must find a way back to each other and resurrect their former alliances. To survive, they must find a way to repair the splintered harmony all around them. The Court of Thorns and Roses series includes: A Court of Thorns and Roses A Court of Mist and Fury A Court of Wings and Ruin A Court of Frost and Starlight A Court of Silver Flames A Court of Splintered Harmony A Court of Forgotten Melody

A Court of Splintered Harmony, the sixth novel in Sarah J. Maas's A Court of Thorns and Roses series, sold 188,914 copies in the UK in its first five days on sale, from 27th to 31st October, according to Nielsen BookScan figures reported by The Guardian. That makes it the fastest-selling adult fantasy novel in the UK since accurate records began in 1998, and no hardback novel has opened bigger in the UK since Dan Brown's Inferno in 2013.

The US figure arrived on 5th November. Circana BookScan tracked 958,195 hardcover copies of A Court of Splintered Harmony in its first week, according to [Publishers Lunch](https://lunch.publishersmarketplace.com/2026/11/maas-book-sells-almost-one-million-tracked-hardcovers-in-opening-week/).

The rankings below set both numbers against the biggest opening weeks of the past two decades. Every figure counts the same thing: print copies sold through the shops each tracking service covers in a book's opening week.

## A Court of Splintered Harmony UK Sales Against Record Opening Weeks

UK copies sold in the opening week, as tracked by Nielsen BookScan:

- The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown (2009): 550,946
- Inferno by Dan Brown (2013): 228,961
- **A Court of Splintered Harmony by Sarah J. Maas (2026): 188,914**
- Go Set a Watchman by Harper Lee (2015): 168,455
- Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros (2025): 155,141
- The Casual Vacancy by J.K. Rowling (2012): 124,603

A Court of Splintered Harmony beat Onyx Storm, the previous adult fantasy record holder, by 33,773 copies. Onyx Storm sold its 155,141 copies in January 2025. The only books on this list to open bigger are the two Dan Brown thrillers, and The Lost Symbol's 550,946 remains the highest figure here by a wide margin.

The book went straight to number one in the UK's overall book chart. Lucy Jakes, [the science fiction and fantasy buyer at Waterstones](https://richbooksmagazine.com/article/waterstones-book-of-the-year-2026-shortlist), called it 'one of our most pre-ordered books of the year'. The Bookseller counted 300 midnight launch parties across the UK, 150 of them in Waterstones branches.

## A Court of Splintered Harmony US Hardcover Sales

US hardcovers sold in the first week, as tracked by BookScan:

- Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros, deluxe and standard editions (2025): 1,288,300
- The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown (2009): 1,163,000
- **A Court of Splintered Harmony by Sarah J. Maas (2026): 958,195**
- Onyx Storm, Wing and Claw Collection edition (2026): 857,802
- Go Set a Watchman by Harper Lee (2015): 746,000
- Inferno by Dan Brown (2013): 369,000

Onyx Storm still holds the BookScan record for the fastest-selling adult title, set in January 2025 across its deluxe and standard editions. This autumn, A Court of Splintered Harmony outsold the new Wing and Claw Collection edition of Onyx Storm by 100,393 hardcovers. The US service now runs under the name Circana BookScan, and the older figures in this list come from the same service under its earlier owner.

## Preorders and First-Day Sales Across English Editions

Bloomsbury put the launch at 1.7 million copies, counting preorders and release-day sales of English-language print and ebook editions in the US, Canada, the UK and Australia, as reported by Variety. The figure leaves out audiobooks and translated editions. Release-day sales were 600% higher than those of A Court of Silver Flames, the fifth book in the series, in 2021.

The 1.7 million figure covers four countries and two formats, so it does not sit in the same list as the tracked print numbers above. The same applies to the 2.7 million copies Entangled Publishing reported for Onyx Storm across all formats in its first week in 2025. When you compare launches, the tracked print figures give you like for like.

## Backlist Sales of A Court of Thorns and Roses

The new book lifted sales of the earlier books too. In the same UK chart week, sales of the first novel, A Court of Thorns and Roses, rose 146.3% and sales of the Crescent City trilogy rose 193.3%, according to The Bookseller. According to Bloomsbury, English-language sales of Maas's books across all her series have now passed 100 million copies.

## A Court of Forgotten Melody Release Date

A Court of Splintered Harmony carries only the first part of a longer story. [A Court of Forgotten Melody, the seventh book](https://richbooksmagazine.com/article/koschei-the-deathless-acotar), follows on 12th January 2027 and carries the second and third parts. If you finished Splintered Harmony and found the ending open, the next volume is under ten weeks away.

## FAQ

**Q: Is there a way to see how many copies a book has sold?**
Publishers rarely release full sales totals, so the main public source is a sales tracking service. In the UK, Nielsen BookScan records print sales through most bookshops and supermarkets, and in the US, Circana BookScan records print sales through the retailers that report to it. Both services sell their data by subscription, but trade titles such as The Bookseller and Publishers Weekly publish weekly figures for the bestselling books. These services count print copies only, so ebook and audiobook sales are missing unless a publisher announces them.
